Aerosol measurement

Danger from aerosols.

VTA Aerosolmessung

To protect your health and to ensure the operational safety of wastewater treatment plants, the VTA Institute for Health and Environment offers aerosol measurements.

Measurement of aerosol distribution and aerosol concentration (in mg/m³) in the entire system area

Size-specific aerosol measurement (pulmonary respiration)

Determination of the bacterial load of the aerosols (total germs) in the entire plant area using conventional microbiological methods of qualitative and quantitative germ analysis

Qualitative determination of resistant and multi-resistant germs in aerosols (carbapenems and vancomycin) in the entire plant area

Weather data (temperature and wind)

During the operation of wastewater treatment plants, the air is contaminated by various germs and odours. This raises the question of a possible hazard from aerosols, both for humans and for animals or neighbouring industrial processes. Activated sludge tanks in particular are the main source of microbial contamination of the air in the vicinity of wastewater treatment plants.

Bacterial load of the aerosols

Based on comparative values, the bacterial load of the aerosols (in CFU/m³) of your wastewater treatment plant is categorised on a scale. In addition, an aerosol map (heatmap) is created, which shows the sources and spatial distribution of the aerosols and their bacterial load.

VTA Hydroprompt® FORTE reduces the bacterial load

VTA Hydroprompt

The use of VTA Hydroprompt® FORTE reduces the bacterial load in the aerosols generated by aeration of the aeration tanks by approx. 60 %.
