Gratkorn in Styria is one of the many places where VTA reliably ensures that odour problems caused by H2S are not an issue. A real challenge, because the local conditions in the market town near Graz, with its paper industry and long pump lines, favour the formation of hydrogen sulphide with all its nasty consequences, such as odours and corrosion.
This has come to an end since the market town of Gratkorn decided to eliminate the problem with one of VTA's tried-and-tested "odour killers". The application concept, which was developed by VTA area manager Armin Flössholzer in collaboration with Graz University of Technology and the engineering firm IGBK Graz, proved its worth last year. The next step was therefore to replace the previously temporary dosing system for adding the VTA system product with a permanent solution: a customised dosing container.
Compact, clean, indestructible
The basis for this successful VTA product is a modified 20-foot container that has been specially converted for this purpose. The standardised container is around six metres long and forms an indestructible shell for state-of-the-art tank, dosing and control technology. The experienced specialists at VTA have fitted a double-walled plastic tank with a capacity of 20 m3 into the Gratkorn container, which is also suitable for hazardous goods. The tank was completely customised in order to make optimum use of the available volume. Depending on requirements, multi-chamber systems can also be installed, e.g. for the simultaneous dosing of odour killer and precipitant.
The thermally insulated, heatable container also contains a dosing plate with dosing point and pump, a connection piece for easy refuelling from the tanker, washbasin, lighting and, last but not least, state-of-the-art measurement and control technology. The dosing pump is fully electronically controlled via an H2S measuring probe.
All relevant data and, if necessary, alarm messages are automatically transmitted to defined key points at the operator's premises. With overfill protection, leakage probes and numerous other details, the certified dosing container fulfils all the requirements of water legislation.
Finally, VTA dosing containers are not only a clean and economical solution, but also a particularly safe one: the steel shell provides effective protection against damage, vandalism and weather influences such as lightning, storms and snow pressure.
Plug & Play - everything is very simple
The compact container is a genuine plug & play solution: it is fully assembled as a functional unit at the VTA plant in Rottenbach and transported by lorry to its destination ready for use. Installation and commissioning are carried out by VTA fitters; the customer only needs to take care of a suitable foundation, a water connection (washbasin and flushing) and a power connection. There are no emissions, only an exhaust pipe is required for the refuelling process. Incidentally, the exterior colour can also be chosen as desired. In Gratkorn, a discreet dark green colour was chosen - after all, the dosing container is located there on a "green meadow".
VTA experts from the Dosing Technology and Technical Field Service departments work closely together on every container project. The range of services extends from on-site stocktaking to design, detailed planning, production, delivery, commissioning and acceptance through to comprehensive customer service.
